As an 18-year-old, Mikaela Shiffrin made Alpine skiing history on the Sochi slopes.

Happy birthday, Mikaela Shiffrin! The youngest slalom champion in Olympic Alpine skiing history turns 19 today. The Colorado native, who made her Olympic debut in Sochi last month, took home the gold medal in the slalom after finishing fifth in the giant slalom. Her success made her an overnight sensation and she has since appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated, on a Wheaties box and was a guest on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." She's continued to star on the slopes as well. On Saturday in Sweden, Shiffrin claimed her fourth World Cup slalom victory of the season to retain her World Cup slalom title. The World Cup season ends later this week in Switzerland.
