New York crowd pulls me through

Adena Andrews asks Sloane Stephens about her musical admirers, cartoons, and playing video games with Mardy Fish.

I love New York, I really do! The crowd on Thursday cheered like no other. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I started Thursday at Moonstruck and you know what I had (pancakes and eggs). My brother, Shawn, arrived that morning, so we had breakfast together. It's so nice to see my little bro. In a day or two, we'll be tired of each other. Just kidding, Shawn!

On the way to the tournament, we rocked a little Marvin Sapp, Mike Jones and Tyga. Hmmm, that doesn't sound right, but that's what happened. I had my normal prematch warm-up -- hitting with Johanna Konta -- grabbed a quick bite and took a nap.

I knew this match had the potential to be a little crazy, because I didn't know my opponent. I knew she had qualified, but I didn't know her game. Tatjana Malek was on fire Thursday. She had a very unique game that threw me off. Once I got myself together I was able to pull out the win. Thank goodness for the New York crowd! They cheered and helped me maintain my energy through three tough sets. Thank you so much for the support -- l love you guys.

After singles, I had to prepare for doubles with Timea Babos. We got off to a good start but couldn't close the match out. We lost in three sets, but we're certainly going to keep trying to play together. I think we're a solid team, and I'd like to see what we can do in the future.

Next it was a massage, press at 10:45 p.m. and finally back at the hotel at 11:45 p.m. Thursday was a very long day. Thank goodness I have Friday off. I will be sleeping in until who knows when! Yay!
