Seventh time the charm for Notre Dame?
The No. 2 Notre Dame women’s basketball team will be going for its first Big East tournament championship Tuesday night against No. 3 Connecticut. The last time the Fighting Irish won a conference title was in 1994, when they beat Xavier 72-63 in the final of the Midwestern Collegiate Conference, which is now known as the Horizon League. Notre Dame joined the Big East in 1995-96 and has made it to the finals of the conference tournament six times, losing to Connecticut on each occasion, including last year’s 63-54 defeat.
