Jackie Robinson film '42' hits theaters today
“42,” a film that commemorates icon Jackie Robinson and his struggles to break baseball's color barrier, opens in theaters today. On Monday, Major League Baseball celebrates Jackie Robinson Day. The annual event honors the day, 66 years ago, when the Hall of Famer made his major-league debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Robinson, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1962, became the first black player of baseball’s modern era on April 15, 1947. The film stars Chadwick Boseman as Robinson, Harrison Ford as Branch Rickey and Nicole Beharie as Rachel Robinson.
