I hope to cherish every moment this weekend
It has been a busy week for us Sooners as we have been preparing for and taking our finals. By this time in the week, things are starting to wind down, though, and school will be completely over for everyone come game time Friday! I can speak on behalf of my teammates that this is our favorite time of the year: Softball with no school to worry about and postseason just around the corner.
We have a huge weekend ahead of us to finish out the regular season. One thing I learned quickly in coming to Oklahoma is Bedlam is a big deal. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the term, whenever Oklahoma and Oklahoma State face each other it is known as “Bedlam.” We start the series off in Oklahoma City at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium, then at home in Norman and finally in Stillwater at Oklahoma State. Not only are we looking to bounce back from a loss to Kansas last weekend, we are also playing for a conference championship.
Two of our seniors, Keilani Ricketts and Brianna Turang, will be graduating this weekend. I am so proud of them both as I know how hard they have worked to earn their degrees. Although they won’t be able to walk in real graduation, we are hoping to honor their accomplishments at the softball field during our Senior Day on Saturday.
Senior Day is a big to-do for Oklahoma softball. It feels like yesterday I was standing at the ceremony as a freshman feeling as if my time was forever away. Well, I blinked and it’s here! I am so excited to celebrate with my teammates and coaches, fellow seniors and our families this weekend.
Sunday night, as many of you know, is the NCAA tournament selection show. This is always a much-anticipated night for us as we will see where we will begin our postseason journey. So to summarize, four seniors to celebrate, three games, two graduates and one selection show are on the table for us this weekend. I am hoping to cherish every moment!
