In addition to her three gold medals on the beach, Misty May-Treanor also won an NCAA indoor championship in 1998 at Long Beach State.

Happy Birthday, Misty May-Treanor! The three-time Olympic gold medalist, who was born in Los Angeles on July 30, 1977, turns 36 today. Less than one year ago, on Aug. 8, 2012, May-Treanor and longtime partner Kerri Walsh Jennings became the first beach volleyball team to win three Olympic gold medals in a row after winning 21 straight matches at the Games. The duo lost just one of 43 sets during the run. While May-Treanor retired after the London Olympics, Walsh Jennings has recently returned to competition after giving birth to her third child, daughter Scout.
