Happy birthday, Montana!

Montana's mountains were a training destination for young Missoula native Eric Bergoust, who won gold in freestyle aerial skiing at the 1998 Olympics in Nagano.

On this day in 1889, Montana became the 41st U.S. state. The addition of Montana has obviously brought our country countless joys, from Glacier National Park to gorgeous mountain views to a great last name for Miley Cyrus’ breakout role. The state also has produced notable athletes and sports figures like legendary coach Phil Jackson, Olympic gold-medal winning basketball player Denise Curry, the NFL’s most famous No. 2 pick Ryan Leaf, sometimes-controversial football coach Bobby Petrino, ultramarathon star Nikki Kimball and everyone’s favorite crying basketball player Adam Morrison. Thank you, Montana! Keep on being “The Last Best Place.”
