It seems like more and more people are training for and competing in triathlons. In fact, according to USA Triathlon, participation in the three-sport competition is at an all-time high, especially among women who have taken great interest. Equipment companies -- many started by female athletes -- have taken notice and are designing quality technical and performance gear specifically for women. Coeur Sports Chevron Tri Tank ($79.99) and Tri Shorts ($79.99)
The triathlete founders and designers at Coeur Sports draw inspiration from the runway to create triathlon kits, like the Chevron Tri Tank and Tri Shorts, to specifically fit and flatter a woman's body. The tri tank is flared at the hem to fit around the hips better and stay put. A supportive shelf bra includes cups, and to eliminate chafing, Coeur has developed a "seam-free chamois" in the shorts -- so no seams between you and your saddle. The fleece pad extends the hem of the shorts to add another a layer of protection against inner thigh chafing on the run. The shorts also have wider leg holds and a yoga-style waistband to help ease restriction.
MooMotion Hudson Tri Jersey ($87) and Revolution Short ($85)
This fashion forward triathlon jersey and shorts are designed by a Parsons School of Design alum and triathlete. The second-skin fabric protects you from the sun with UPF 50+ protection and flatters your curves while allowing full range of motion for the swim, bike and run. The Hudson Tri Jersey is a classic racerback and scoop neck silhouette that extends past your hip for extra coverage. It has a built-in mesh bra and multiple back pockets and a hidden cleavage pocket. With its wide waistband, gripper-free leg bands and a breathable, multisport chamois, the Revolution Short is built to keep you comfortable.
Betty Designs Kick Cancer Tri Kit ($169.98)
Betty Designs' edgy and unique graphics adorn this kit, which incorporates a women's specific cut and the latest technical fabrics. The racerback top has two rear pockets and the shorts feature a new leg closure that uses no silicone or stitching, which eliminates chafing. Plus, Betty Designs will donate a portion of the proceeds to cancer-related charities.
Trek Speed Concept 9.5 WSD ($5,999.99)
The Trek Speed Concept bike is a full carbon fiber bike that's built for triathlons and women. Everything from the frame, components and handlebars to the saddle and styling of the Speed Concept is designed for a better fit and greater comfort, power, stability and control. It's a lightweight, fast and aerodynamic bike that will have you cruising along the bike course.
blueseventy Reaction Full Suit ($420)
The high-quality neoprene and the suit's buoyancy are designed to optimize body position in the water to reduce drag and improve speed. Eight years ago, they introduced their Femme Fit wetsuits -- designed for female athletes. They offer a wide range of sizes, and sizing focuses on critical fit areas like bust, torso, wrists and ankles. The lower neckline offers more comfort during the swim and less chafing. The extended zipper length means the wetsuit accommodates a wider hip, making it easier to slip on and off. It's flexible in just the right spots so that your movement isn't restricted.
Calavera Triton Top ($54) and Triton Bottom ($49)
As a staple for surfers and paddleboarders, Calavera knows how to make a swimsuit that's functional, well-designed and stays put. Now, they have ventured into triathlon territory with the Triton Swimsuit. The top has adjustable, reenforced flat straps and an elastic under bust band to keep the top in place. The bottom has a non-elastic internal string for a secure fit. The top and bottom feature mesh-covered areas to allow for seat dispersion.
