Hoops and hockey on a snowy night
Men's college basketball: ESPN has a truly Super Tuesday of college basketball tonight starting at 7 p.m. ET when No. 10 Purdue visits No. 18 Wisconsin. The Boilermakers are the only Big Ten team with a winning record (8-6) against the Badgers in the Bo Ryan era. At 9 p.m. ET on ESPN, No. 24 Vanderbilt visits No. 23 Florida. If the Commodores can defeat the Gators, it would be Vanderbilt's first three-game win streak against ranked opponents since winning five straight between December 2006 and January 2007. On ESPNU, No. 11 Kentucky visits Mississippi at 7 p.m. ET, and No. 2 Kansas travels to Texas Tech at 9 p.m. ET.
Women's college basketball: Four Top 25 teams are in action tonight at 7 p.m. ET, with La Salle at No. 7 Xavier, Syracuse at No. 8 Notre Dame, Providence at No. 15 West Virginia and No. 19 Georgetown at Louisville.
NBA: There are just four games on the schedule tonight. San Antonio takes its three-game winning streak and NBA-best 40-7 record into Portland (10 p.m. ET). The Lakers look to rebound from Sunday's loss to the Celtics when the Houston Rockets come calling at the Staples Center (10:30 p.m. ET).
NHL: The NHL returns from its All-Star break with a busy slate of 13 games. If you're a fan of an NHL team, chances are they're playing; 26 of the league's 30 teams are in action tonight. I'll be keeping my eye on the Penguins at Rangers (Versus, 7:30 p.m. ET) and the Flyers at the Lightning (7:30 p.m.), a matchup of the top two teams in the Eastern Conference.
