Busted bracket? Here's an awesome alternative

By Sarah Spain

We're just three rounds into the NCAA tournament, and I can see that many of you are already suffering from Busted Bracket Syndrome (BBS).

You're listless. You're depressed. It's 3 p.m. and you're still in your pajamas. You were excited to see the lovable underdogs from Lehigh send Duke packing until you remembered you had the Blue Devils going to the final. You loved the drama of the Missouri/Norfolk State game until the final buzzer sounded and you looked at your bracket and saw a crime scene of red ink.

You considered yourself a bit of a bracketologist-in-the-making when you clicked "save" on your picks last week, but now you just don't know who you are anymore. You're stressing over the broken wrist of UNC guard Kendall Marshall, you don't have any faith in Syracuse down the stretch without big man Fab Melo and you're ashamed to admit you had never even heard of the Ohio Bobcats before last weekend.

Until games start back up again Thursday, you have to see your name down near the bottom of your group standings, next to that ugly "14.6 percent." And there isn't a thing you can do about it.

I think it's time to step away from the computer. Time to forget about March Madness. Time to get happy.

I present to you ... the Bracket of Awesome.

This bracket is full of some of the happiest things on earth, like new puppies, poolside cocktails and bacon. It's a shining ray of hope beaming into your darkened heart; a warm blanket to wrap around your BBS-stricken soul. 'Cause sometimes you have to leave the sports stratosphere behind and embrace a world where dance parties, cupcakes and road trips are all that matters.

Over the next week, the Bracket of Awesome will be your refuge from the NCAA tournament storm. When a particularly close game has you biting your fingernails and pulling out your hair, you can cruise on over to the Bracket of Awesome and debate the relative merits of a beach bonfire versus a morning yoga session.

When your last remaining Final Four team is eliminated by a lower seed, you can head over to the Bracket of Awesome and cast your vote for Ryan Reynolds' abs. And I think we all know that a vote for Ryan Reynolds' abs is a vote for America (even though he's Canadian).

Voting will continue each day leading up to Monday's Champion of Awesome final. The winner will be announced in next week's "That's What She Said."

Let the super, totes awesome voting begin!
