A long trail to recovery

Twenty years ago, Nikki Kimball sat down to chart a course that would take her to the 1998 Games in Nagano. She'd just finished a promising 13th in the U.S. Olympic biathlon trials, boosting her hopes of accomplishing her dream: being an Olympian.

But when she sat down, she could barely get back up. She was in the best shape of her life, but energy had abandoned her.
