Marking memories by the mile
Back at the start of the summer, 25-year-old Cecelia Kauth; her boyfriend, Casey Bolthouse; and two of their friends set out from Portland, Ore., on a cross-country bike ride. The plan is to arrive on the East Coast -- New York City, to be exact -- on Sunday, Sept. 11. The 12-week trek is in honor of Cecelia's father, Don J. Kauth, and the 3,000 other fellow Americans who were killed in the World Trade Tower attacks on Sept. 11, 10 years ago.
Kauth and her friends are also raising money for World Bicycle Relief, an organization founded in 2005 that is "dedicated to providing access to independence and livelihood through the power of bicycles." WBR distributes bicycles to people in underdeveloped countries around the world.
