Simone Biles to headline U.S. squad

INDIANAPOLIS -- Reigning world all-around champion Simone Biles will headline the U.S. team at the American Cup in March.

Biles, 2012 Olympic gold medalist Kyla Ross and U.S. all-around champion Sam Mikulak will represent the U.S. in the meet, scheduled for March 1 in Greensboro, N.C.

Biles finished second behind Katelyn Ohashi in the 2013 American Cup then skyrocketed to stardom over the summer after winning the all-around at the U.S. championships in August then backing it up by edging Ross for the top honors at the world championships in October.

Ross, a member of the "Fierce Five" that won gold at the London Games, finished second behind Biles at both worlds and nationals this year.

The international portion of the field will be announced early next year.
