Flash, Thorns FC to play for title

Carli Lloyd scored twice, including once in stoppage time, to give the Western New York Flash a 2-0 victory over Sky Blue FC in the National Women's Soccer League semifinal Saturday night.

Lloyd's first-half goal came at 32:19 on an assist from Katherine Reynolds. She sealed the game 2:05 into stoppage time with her 10th goal of the season.

The win means Western New York will host the Aug. 31 championship game against Portland Thorns FC. The 7 p.m. game will be played at Sahlen's Stadium in Rochester, N.Y.

Allie Long scored off an assist from Tiffany Weimer in the first overtime to lift the Thorns FC past FC Kansas City 3-2 in the other semifinal at Overland Park, Kan.

Erika Tymrak and Melissa Henderson scored in the first half to help Kansas City jump out to an early 2-0 lead. The Thorns rallied with a goals from Tobin Heath and Weimer to force overtime.
