Wimbledon: The London fortnight comes to an end this weekend. On Friday, the men's semifinals take Centre Court. Novak Djokovic has already advanced to the final with a four-set win over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and has claimed the world No. 1 ranking. Top seed Rafael Nadal and local favorite Andy Murray have a must-watch showdown at noon (NBC). Saturday's ladies' final pits newcomer Petra Kvitova in her first-ever Grand Slam final appearance against Maria Sharapova, seeking her second Wimbledon title after she won as a 17-year old in 2004 (9 a.m., NBC). No matter who advances on Friday, you're definitely going to want to wake up early on Sunday for the must-watch gentlemen's final (9 a.m., NBC).
Women's World Cup: The 2011 Women's World Cup continues this weekend with a full slate of matches on ESPN and ESPN3.com. In the early Friday match, Japan advanced to the quarterfinals with an easy win over Mexico. At 12:15 p.m., New Zealand takes on England in Group B action. On Saturday, the Group C action starts at 8 a.m. with Sweden against North Korea (have they recovered from that lightning strike?). The Americans are back on the pitch against Columbia at noon. The U.S. will advance (and Colombia will be eliminated) if it wins and if North Korea does not defeat Sweden. MLB It's the final weekend of interleague play around the majors this weekend, highlighted by the Subway Series (Yankees at Mets), Freeway Series (Dodgers at Angels) and Crosstown Showdown (White Sox at Cubs).
