"As cliché as it sounds, my dad truly made me believe in the meaning of never giving up and finishing what I started. Before the 2008 Olympics, when I was struggling through an injury and was losing all hope, I remembered this, and at the 2012 U.S. Olympic trials -- where I fell face first on my bar routine -- I immediately remembered him once telling me to always finish what you begin. In that moment, I got the courage and strength to get up and finish that routine, with him right by my side."
