INDIANAPOLIS -- Guard Erin Phillips has signed a multiyear contract to return to the Indiana Fever.

The Fever re-signed Phillips, a restricted free agent who started 22 games at point guard for the club in 2011, by matching an offer sheet from the Phoenix Mercury.

The Fever acquired Phillips as part of a three-team offseason trade before the 2011 season. The athletic 5-foot-8 guard took over a starting role at the point when returning starter Briann January suffered a season-ending injury just 10 games into the season.

Expected to represent her native Australia in the upcoming 2012 Olympics in London, Phillips averaged 8.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 31 games for Indiana last summer.
