When the Yankees' Derek Jeter reached the magical milestone of 3,000 hits, he did it in style, launching a home run off the Rays' David Price and finishing the game with five hits. He became the first player to reach the milestone as a Yankee and the 28th member of baseball's 3,000-hit club.
In the first play of overtime in their AFC wild-card playoff game against the Steelers, Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow connected with Demaryius Thomas on an electrifying 80-yard touchdown pass. The Broncos defeated the stunned Steelers 29-23.
