Martin Kampmann, John Howard to fight

Fresh off a narrow decision loss to Diego Sanchez last month, UFC welterweight Martin Kampmann has agreed to return to the Octagon against John Howard in June.

UFC officials announced Wednesday the two welterweights have verbally agreed to meet at UFC on Versus 4, scheduled for June 26 at Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.

Kampmann (17-5) has lost back-to-back fights for the first time in his professional career. Prior to the controversial loss to Sanchez, he dropped a closely contested decision to Jake Shields at UFC 121.

The Las Vegas-based fighter holds notable wins over Paulo Thiago, Carlos Condit and Jorge Rivera, but has never competed for a UFC title.

Howard (14-6) is also looking to bounce back from consecutive losses. After winning his first four fights in the UFC, Howard came up short against Jake Ellenberger and Thiago Alves in the second half of last year.

The 28-year-old has never lost three consecutive fights in his professional career, dating back to 2004.
