Of all the opponents Jones has faced, none tested his emotions like ex-friend and training partner Evans. They once vowed never to fight one another, but that changed after Jones won the title. Jones said he'd fight Evans if the belt was at stake, causing the former champ to take exception. Fighting to keep his emotions in check and leery of Evans' punching power and transition skills, Jones rarely displayed the unorthodox striking of previous outings, aside from a few damaging elbows. The fight didn't live up to expectations, but Jones showed patience and maturity en route to a unanimous decision.
