Fernando Alonso believes a future drive at the Indy 500 would be "attractive for any driver" because of its status as one of the greatest races in motorsport.
Alonso came close to competing at the Le Mans 24 Hours alongside his Formula One commitments this season, only for the deal to fall through due to his contract with McLaren-Honda. The 33-year-old is considered the most complete driver of his generation and many fans would relish the chance to see him driving in another category.
At the weekend the Spaniard took to Twitter to set up the #AskAlo hashtag, encouraging fans to pose him a question. The Spaniard said he had received 6,000 questions in one afternoon and provided some interesting responses.
One question posed to the 2005 and 2006 world champion regarded Indy 500, and he did not rule out a future drive at the famous Speedway - though there is no suggestion the Spaniard is considering retiring from Formula One any time soon.

Alonso was the man who ended Michael Schumacher's run of F1 titles in 2005 and then beat the German in a straight fight for the 2006 championship. The Spaniard has had many rivals since then - notably Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel - but still considers Schumacher to be the strongest.

Alonso also used a question about Raikkonen to remind fans of his huge success against the Finn when they were paired at Ferrari last season, which saw him finish 106 points ahead in the drivers' standings.
