Minnesota signs OF Torii Hunter, avoids arbitration
FORT MYERS, Florida (Ticker) -- Torii Hunter, one of the more
complete outfielders in the American League, Tuesday avoided
arbitration withe the Minnesota Twins, signing a one-year
contract.
Financial terms were not disclosed but Hunter was seeking $2.7
million in arbitration while the club was offering $2 million.
He made $250,000 last season and can be a free agent after this
season.
The 26-year-old Hunter is coming a career year in which he
batted .261 with 27 homers and 92 RBI. He also won a Gold Glove
for his defense in center field and was second among AL
outfielders in assists.
