Having fun with Tiger's ranking

Say what you will about the Official World Golf Ranking. Cynics will argue the format is an arbitrary assignment of point values, more vexing than college football's BCS system. Supporters realize it's the only ranking of its kind, so we might as well pay it some attention.

Consider me part of that latter group. I don't think the format is infallible, nor do I believe it always ranks players in order of simply how good they are -- no matter how close it sometimes comes. But there are times we need to take a good, long look at the ranking, crunch the numbers and discover an ongoing trend. Today, following Tiger Woods' fourth victory in his last four starts, is one of those times.
