Poulter lets others pick clothes ... sort of
Ian Poulter, he of the unique fashion sense, is no doubt comfortable in his own skin... er clothing. But comfortable enough to let others choose his outfits?
Stuart Franklin/Getty ImagesUntil last year, Ian Poulter was more known for his outfits instead of his golf in the United States. That might have changed after his victory at the WGC-Accenture Match Play.
The Englishman has agreed to let fans choose what he will wear during the first round of the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship next month in Arizona, where he will be the defending champion.
Ah, but they will be choosing from just three possibilities, ones that he can obviously live with for a day.
"I'm looking forward to seeing what fans choose for me to wear," Poulter said. "Of course, I'd love to see the fans in Southern Arizona decked out in IJP Design gear as well ... attempting to style their hair like mine is optional."
The tournament announced the promotion along with IJP Design. It is being called the "Dress Ian'' Facebook campaign and will give fans the chance to select one of three possible outfits for Poulter to wear on Wednesday, Feb. 23. Poulter, ranked 11th in the world and a star on Europe's Ryder Cup team, defeated fellow Englishman Paul Casey in last year's final at the WGC Match Play to capture his first PGA Tour victory.
