Jeff Schmid leads PGA Assistant

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Jeff Schmid shot a 6-under 66 on Friday to open a four-stroke lead after the second round of the PGA Assistant Championship.

Schmid, a 45-year-old PGA assistant professional at Perche Creek Golf Club in Columbia, Mo., had a 10-under 134 total on PGA Golf Club's Wanamaker Course.

First-round leader Trent Rommann of Wichita, Kan., was tied for second with Brett Carman of Claysville, Pa.; Adam Gary of Bowling Green, Ky.; and Chris Trout of Fort Myers, Fla.
