Henrik Stenson has birdied the 17th hole of his second round to take sole possession of the PGA Championship lead at -6.

Ty Wenger ESPN Editor

Where's that cut line going to wind up by the end of the second round at the PGA Championship? Slowly but surely it's creeping back toward +2. That's welcome news to any of the 19 golfers currently at 2-over, including Jason Dufner, Ryan Palmer and Billy Horschel, all sitting in the clubhouse at that number.

Ty Wenger ESPN Editor

Lips, incorporated! Jordan Spieth lips out a 17-foot birdie putt on the final green then taps in the par to card a 3-under 67 for the day at the PGA Championship, two shots off the lead.

Ty Wenger ESPN Editor

Jordan Spieth (-3, two strokes off the lead) has a 15-foot birdie putt on his final hole of the day at the PGA Championship. Spieth missed only two greens all day, and is currently second in the field in proximity to the hole. As he said last night, following his opening round: "I struck the ball beautifully today, the way I have been." With how he's hitting it, Spieth might well be the odds-on favorite entering the weekend.

Ty Wenger ESPN Editor

Two-time major champion Martin Kaymer has birdied three of his final four holes to join Patrick Reed, Henrik Stenson and Jimmy Walker at –5 atop the leaderboard at the PGA Championship.

Ty Wenger ESPN Editor

After all that, Spieth holes out from three feet for bogey on his 16th hole of the day. He's fallen back to -3, two off the lead with two to play.

Ty Wenger ESPN Editor

Spieth (-4) finally hits his second shot at the 7th hole ... his foot slipping on the cart path... the ball flying well over the green. Spieth's playing partners have putted ... and he's just now chipped up ... Leaving himself 25 feet for par. There's a very rushed vibe to the grouping now.

And...Jordan Spieth (-4, and one stroke off the lead) STILL hasn't hit his shot.

Ty Wenger ESPN Editor

Jordan Spieth has had a lovely, humorous, five-minute conversation with a rules official regarding Spieth's effort to take a drop in a puddle-laden cart path after a wayward drive on the 7th hole. Can't imagine THIS is going to help his group's effort to stay off the clock. And...he still hasn't hit.

The grouping of Jordan Spieth (-4), Bubba Watson (-1) and Sergio Garcia (+4) has just been warned that they are a full hole behind the group ahead of them at the PGA. It's interesting to note how often time warnings are blamed, after the fact, by Tour players, when discussing where their rounds turned bad. With three holes left to play for the group, it's worth keeping an eye on.

Ty Wenger ESPN Editor

Patrick Reed birdies the par-four 5th after sticking his approach to four feet. He's now tied at -5 with Henrik Stenson and Jimmy Walker at the top of the PGA leaderboard.

Jason Sobel @JasonSobelESPN

Rich Beem birdies the last to shoot 72 and likely make the cut. Think he's got Low Media Member wrapped up already.

Ty Wenger ESPN Editor

Henrik Stenson? Yeah, that guy's not bad. Now the reigning British Open champ has birdied the third hole at the PGA (his twelfth of the day) to gain a share of the lead at -5.

Jason Sobel @JasonSobelESPN

Henrik Stenson is 4-under in his last four holes and now tied for the lead. Haven't seen him play this well in, like, 12 whole days.

Ty Wenger ESPN Editor

With the PGA Championship's big movers Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed (both -4 today and -4 for the tournament), and Webb Simpson (-3 today and -4 for the tournament) playing the heart of the front nine, it's worth noting: The front nine contained six of the eight hardest holes on the course yesterday and is playing about a stroke harder than the back nine. So don't be surprised if today's early gainers give back a few strokes before their rounds are done.

Ty Wenger ESPN Editor

Following his opening round at the PGA Championship, Jordan Spieth last night talked at length about the course's bumpy poa annua greens, a strain of grass that typically gets worse as the day goes on. Still, as Spieth noted, he was only five back, and today "we get fresh greens… If I can post something like four or five tomorrow, we're definitely back in the thick of things." Prophetic!

Ty Wenger ESPN Editor

And ... Patrick Reed birdies the second hole to join Jimmy Walker at the top of the leaderboard at -5. There are birdies to be made out there -- 62, anyone?
