The grouping of Jordan Spieth (-4), Bubba Watson (-1) and Sergio Garcia (+4) has just been warned that they are a full hole behind the group ahead of them at the PGA. It's interesting to note how often time warnings are blamed, after the fact, by Tour players, when discussing where their rounds turned bad. With three holes left to play for the group, it's worth keeping an eye on.

Ty Wenger ESPN Editor

Patrick Reed birdies the par-four 5th after sticking his approach to four feet. He's now tied at -5 with Henrik Stenson and Jimmy Walker at the top of the PGA leaderboard.

Jason Sobel @JasonSobelESPN

Rich Beem birdies the last to shoot 72 and likely make the cut. Think he's got Low Media Member wrapped up already.

Ty Wenger ESPN Editor

Henrik Stenson? Yeah, that guy's not bad. Now the reigning British Open champ has birdied the third hole at the PGA (his twelfth of the day) to gain a share of the lead at -5.

Jason Sobel @JasonSobelESPN

Henrik Stenson is 4-under in his last four holes and now tied for the lead. Haven't seen him play this well in, like, 12 whole days.

Ty Wenger ESPN Editor

With the PGA Championship's big movers Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed (both -4 today and -4 for the tournament), and Webb Simpson (-3 today and -4 for the tournament) playing the heart of the front nine, it's worth noting: The front nine contained six of the eight hardest holes on the course yesterday and is playing about a stroke harder than the back nine. So don't be surprised if today's early gainers give back a few strokes before their rounds are done.

Ty Wenger ESPN Editor

Following his opening round at the PGA Championship, Jordan Spieth last night talked at length about the course's bumpy poa annua greens, a strain of grass that typically gets worse as the day goes on. Still, as Spieth noted, he was only five back, and today "we get fresh greens… If I can post something like four or five tomorrow, we're definitely back in the thick of things." Prophetic!

Ty Wenger ESPN Editor

And ... Patrick Reed birdies the second hole to join Jimmy Walker at the top of the leaderboard at -5. There are birdies to be made out there -- 62, anyone?

Ty Wenger ESPN Editor

It's never too soon to talk cut line! The projected cut at the PGA is currently sitting at +1. The top 70 golfers and ties will make the cut; and with 77 golfers at +1 or better, the odds for it to slide back to +2 are good. But given the softness of the rain-soaked greens today, there's no guarantee it will slide back to +3. So Sergio Garcia, John Daly and Rory McIlroy (+4), and JB. Holmes (+5) have some work to do.

Ty Wenger ESPN Editor

A nice par-saving 6-foot putt for Jordan Spieth on the 2nd hole (his tenth of the day) keeps him at -4 and one stroke off the lead at the PGA Championship.

Bob Harig ESPN Senior Writer

After getting off to a slow start Friday at Baltusrol, Open champion Henrik Stenson has eagled the 18th hole (his 9th), hitting a 260-yard approach to 3 feet. The eagle got him back to even par for his round and -3 for the tournament, two strokes behind leader Jimmy Walker. Stenson had bogeyed the 12th and 13th holes. He now heads to the first nine.

Jason Sobel ESPN Senior Writer

Patrick Reed is keeping pace with Jordan Spieth. He keeps following Spieth's birdies and following him up the leaderboard. Each player is now 4-under and just one stroke off the lead.

Bob Harig ESPN Senior Writer

Jordan Spieth's 5 birdies in 9 holes at Baltusrol have him one shot out of the lead as he heads to the front nine. Spieth hit all 9 greens in regulation and his only bogey came at the 12th hole where he 3-putted. Spieth is one back of Jimmy Walker who tees off this afternoon.

Jason Sobel @JasonSobelESPN

Jordan Spieth is trying to become the first player to win three majors in a two-year span since Padraig Harrington in 2007-08.

Jason Sobel ESPN Senior Writer

Jordan Spieth just played his first nine (the back-nine on the course) in 4-under 32 and is now just one stroke out of the PGA Championship lead. Spieth, who turned 23 earlier this week, is seeking his third major title in the last two years.

Jason Sobel ESPN Senior Writer

It's been a relatively quiet year for former U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson, but he's starting to make some noise this week, as he's currently at 3-under, just two strokes off the lead in a share of fourth place.

Jason Sobel ESPN Senior Writer

Ryder Cup partners Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed are climbing the leaderboard. After matching scores of 70 yesterday, each is 3-under this morning and in a share of fourth place.

Jason Sobel ESPN Senior Writer

Gary Woodland has started his round this morning 7-2. That's a triple-bogey on the first and an eagle on the second.
