Ben Crane squeezes into Masters
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Ben Crane had to wait until the end of Arnold Palmer Invitational to make sure he was going to the Masters.
Crane was No. 48 in the world ranking. This was the final week for players to get into the Masters by being in the top 50. Crane missed the cut, but slipped only to No. 49.
Paul Lawrie, who won the Qatar Masters this year, also got in at No. 46.
Ernie Els would have needed to finish second at Bay Hill to go from No. 62 into the top 50. He shot 75 and tied for fourth. Els will need to win the Houston Open to avoid missing the Masters for the first time since 1993.
The Masters has 96 players expected to compete.
