Day 2 European Ryder Cup grades

It would have been very hard for him to match his eight-birdie-and-an-eagle performance from Friday, but the Brussels native had a respectable showing in his pairing with Paul Lawrie on Saturday in a 1 down loss to Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar. Colsaerts' three birdies kept his team in the match. Earlier I the day, he didn't play as well in the foursomes with Sergio Garcia in a 2 and 1 loss to Jason Dufner and Zach Johnson.

Luke Donald   Sat. record: 1-1-0 | Overall record: 1-2-0
The usually consistent Donald has been anything but that in these Ryder Cup matches. But after an embarrassing 7 and 6 loss with Westwood in Saturday's foursomes to Keegan Bradley and Phil Mickelson, Donald had five birdies in the afternoon four-balls to lead a takedown of Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker.

Sergio Garcia   Sat. record: 1-1-0 | Overall record: 1-2-0
On Saturday morning, the Spaniard played poorly, but in the afternoon he got his team off to an early lead over Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker in the four-balls with three birdies. It was enough help to beat the Americans 1 up.

Paul Lawrie   Sat. record: 0-1-0 | Overall record: 0-2-0
Lawrie didn't have a birdie on Saturday afternoon until the 15th hole. There is a good chance that he will leave these matches still best known as the accidental winner of the 1999 Open Championship at Carnoustie when Jean van de Velde collapsed.

Graeme McDowell   Sat. record: 0-1-0 | Overall record: 1-2-0
McDowell and Rory McIlroy didn't make a birdie in their Saturday morning foursomes until the 14th hole. McDowell is another big-time European player that didn't show up to play this week.

Rory McIlroy   Sat. record: 1-1-0 | Overall record: 2-2-0
The world No. 1 wasn't sharp in the morning or afternoon on Saturday. Ian Poulter carried him in the four-balls against Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker.

Francesco Molinari   Sat. record: 0-1-0 | Overall record: 0-2-0
The Italian had three birdies in the Saturday four-balls, but it wasn't nearly enough to keep stride with Webb Simpson, who made seven for his team. This was Molinari's second loss of the week.

Ian Poulter   Sat. record: 2-0-0 | Overall record: 3-0-0
With five consecutive birdies on the back nine, the 36-year-old Englishman led a comeback against Jason Dufner and Zach Johnson. Poulter's courageous win with Rory McIlroy was the highlight of the Saturday sessions. It was Poulter's second win of the day.

Justin Rose   Sat. record: 1-1-0 | Overall record: 2-2-0
The 32-year-old Englishman and Ian Poulter beat the dynamic duo of Watson and Simpson in the Saturday morning foursomes. But playing on his own ball in the afternoon with Francesco Molinari, Rose made just one birdie in a defeat at the hands of Simpson and Watson.

Lee Westwood   Sat. record: 0-1-0 | Overall record: 1-2-0
The 39-year-old Englishman has to be a major disappointment for captain Jose Maria Olazabal. If you can't count on a guy playing in his eighth Ryder Cup to lead your charge, it's a sign that things aren't good in your stable. On Saturday, Westwood played poorly for the second day in a row. Westwood and Luke Donald were a strong team on paper against Keegan Bradley and Phil Mickelson in the Saturday foursomes, but they were overmatched.
