Victor Dubuisson earned enough FedEx Cup points from his runner-up finish at the WGC-Match Play two weeks ago to earn special temporary membership for the rest of the 2013-14 season, the PGA Tour announced Wednesday.
The move will allow the 23-year-old Frenchman to accept an unlimited amount of sponsors exemptions this year. With the $906,000 he pocketed at the Match Play, he has likely already earned his PGA Tour card for the 2014-15 season.
He will, however, not be eligible for the FedEx Cup playoffs unless he wins a PGA Tour event this year.
Dubuisson, who is playing this week's WGC-Cadillac Championship, arrived in Florida but his clubs did not. His equipment maker, Titleist, built a wedge for him to practice with Tuesday at Doral. His clubs did arrive Wednesday, though.
The wedge had a cactus stamped on the back, a reminder of his memorable run at the WGC-Match Play where his two miraculous chips from the desert helped him extend the match against Jason Day in extra holes.
