Hossler, who qualified for the U.S. Open at Congressional in June but didn't make the cut, shot a 4-under-par 66 at Blue Mound Golf and Country Club. Barber shot a 67, also at Blue Mound, and Geyer's 6-under 66 came at Erin Hills, the host for the 2017 U.S. Open.
When play finishes later Wednesday, the field will be cut to the low 64, and the match-play portion of the event will begin. The 36-hole final is scheduled for Sunday.
