GLENEAGLES, Scotland -- Europe isn't lacking potential captains for the Ryder Cup, and it appears popular Irishman Paul McGinley is the top candidate for the role in 2014 at Gleneagles.
This week, McGinley was reappointed as Britain & Ireland captain for next month's Vivendi Seve Trophy against Continental Europe in Paris. It likely will help his chances for the Ryder Cup captaincy in three years.
"It seems they're putting Paul strongly in a position to be the captain, which I think's a good move," Lawrie said.
McGinley was vice captain of Europe's winning team in 2010.
