Bubba Watson out of Farmers
Bubba Watson on Thursday withdrew from the Farmers Insurance Open, citing the flu.
Watson, who was the 2011 winner at the San Diego event, will be replaced in the field by Billy Mayfair.
The 34-year-old reigning Masters champion had been experiencing flu symptoms for at least the last 24 hours, according to his manager, Jens Beck.
Watson arrived at Torrey Pines for his first round on Thursday, but after his warm-up, decided that he didn't feel well enough to play.
Last year, Watson finished tied for 13th at the Farmers Insurance Open. In his only previous start of 2013, the Bagdad, Fla., native finished tied for fourth at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Hawaii.
