AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The view from the top of the leaderboard was almost as daunting as what David Duval saw in front of him Friday at The Masters.

| Phil Mickelson briefly shared the lead before a bogey at No. 16 moved him one back. |
| Andy North's analysis | |
| The greens today were as soft as I have ever seen them at Augusta. That's one of the reasons why scoring was so good. I talked to Dennis Paulson after he finished his round and he said it seemed as if it had rained an inch overnight, the greens were so soft. That, combined with the lack of wind on Friday, made scoring easier. |
