We've broken down the state's top 20 players into two teams -- one of position players and one of pitchers. Keep in mind, these preseason selections were determined by a combination of in-season performance and recruit rankings.

Zach Arnold, Franklin County, C, Senior
UK recruit hit .446 with 18 RBIs last season.

Hunter Best, Russell County, OF, Senior
All-State honorable mention hit .423 last year and .519 as a soph.

Dylan Creech, Wolfe County, C, Junior
Set single-season state record for RBIs (99) his freshman year.

Connor Heady, North Oldham, SS, Junior
All-Region selection committed to UK as a sophomore.

Will Hurt, Lexington Catholic, SS, Senior
Coastal Carolina recruit stole 28 bases as a junior.

Matthew Johnson, Apollo, SS, Senior
Murray State recruit hit .348 with 18 stolen bases last year.

Andrew Lasure, Danville, C, Senior
Hit .449 last season with six homers and 41 RBIs and walked 44 times.

Troy Squires, Central Hardin, SS, Junior
Played a key role for last year's state champ, going 3-for-4 in final.

Zach Storm, North Laurel, 2B/OF, Senior
UK recruit hit a school-record 16 homers last season.

Dalton West, Apollo, C, Senior
All-State first team selection signed with Murray State.


PITCHERS


Michael Bollmer, Bryan Station, RHP/1B, Senior
Louisville recruit was an All-State second team selection last year.

Walker Buehler, Henry Clay, RHP, Senior
Vanderbilt recruit struck out 98 batters in 66 innings last year.

Ryne Combs, Bryan Station, LHP, Senior
UK recruit was 7-2 last year with a 1.31 ERA and 88 strikeouts.

Dylan Dwyer, Calloway County, LHP, Senior
UK recruit led Calloway County to First Region championship game.

Zach Haynes, Lexington Catholic, RHP, Senior
Indiana recruit was 5-0 last year with a 1.90 ERA and 50 strikeouts.

Clinton Hollon, Woodford County, RHP, Junior
Considered one of the nation's top prospects in the Class of 2013.

Chase Mullins, Bourbon County, LHP, Senior
Tall (6-foot-9) lefty and UK recruit went 7-2 with 76 strikeouts last year.

Jonah Philley, Eastern, RHP/SS, Senior
Louisville recruit won four games last season and also hit .336.

Robert Strader, Eastern, LHP, Senior
Went 4-0 last season and signed with Louisville.

Trace Vorbeck, Corbin, RHP/3B, Senior
Eastern Kentucky recruit hit .587 with 12 HR and was 4-2 on the hill.
