We've broken down the state's top 20 players into two teams -- one of position players and one of pitchers. Keep in mind, these preseason selections were determined by a combination of in-season performance and recruit rankings.

Also a star football recruit, making the All-Associated Press team.

Brandon Arms, Washburn, OF/C, Junior
Batted .531, struck out only seven times in 79 plate appearances.

Matt Fiedler, St. Paul Academy, SS, Junior
Highly touted infielder batted .582 and drove in 25 runs last year.

Ryan McCarthy, Proctor, 1B, Senior
Set a state record last season by recording 10 RBIs in one game.

Blake Molitor, West Lutheran, C/OF, Senior

Dan Motl, Burnsville, OF, Senior
Minnesota recruit stole 25 bases for Class AAA state champs.
