We've broken down the state's top 20 players into two teams -- one of position players and one of pitchers. Keep in mind, these preseason selections were determined by a combination of in-season performance and recruit rankings.

Tyler Adkins, Wayne, OF, Senior
Landed on all-state team as a sophomore and as a junior.

Corey Bird, Herbert Hoover, OF, Junior
Landed on all-state team as a sophomore.

Nick Breen, Brooke, 3B/C, Senior
First team all-state last year after batting .476.

Cameron Cottrill, Poca, SS/2B, Sophomore
Hit .483 to earn spot on all-state team as a freshman.

Korey Dunbar, Nitro, C/3B, Senior
Is UNC bound after hitting .533 with 11 HRs last season.

Kyle Elliott, Magnolia, SS/2B/RHP, Junior
Versatile player was an all-state selection last season.

Jacob Frantz, Greenbrier East, C, Junior
Second-team all-state selection as a sophomore.

Jamin Jones, Ripley, OF/LHP, Senior
Hit. .485 with seven home runs and 28 stolen bases in 2011.

John Koon, Bridgeport, OF, Senior
Showed terrific power; hit 10 home runs as junior.

Trent Porter, Cabell Midland, SS, Senior
Hit .469 last season as a junior.

Jordan Banks, Chapmanville, LHP, Senior
All-state pitcher threw a one-hit shutout in state title game.

Karl Bennington, Gilmer County, RHP, Junior
Boasted an ERA of 1.26 and struck out 78 as a sophomore.

Brandon Cordell, Martinsburg, RHP, Senior
Finished junior year 9-2 on the mound with a 1.61 ERA.

Travis McKinney, Wyoming East, RHP, Senior
Posted a 7-3 record with a 2.30 ERA last season.

Jamie Miller, East Hardy, RHP, Senior
All-state pitcher in Class A last season.

Eric Roberts, Point Pleasant, RHP, Senior
All-state athlete in baseball and in football as a quarterback.

Tyler Roush, Wahama, RHP, Senior
Struck out 71 and finished with a 2.10 ERA last season.
