For his play last season, Smith earned First Team All-City and First Team All-Metro from the Baltimore Sun.
Smith holds offers from more than 15 Division I basketball programs, including UConn, Louisville, Florida State, Maryland, UCLA and Memphis.
"I'm wide open on colleges," Smith told ESPNRISE.com. "I'm hearing from everyone and just starting to really think about my options."
Smith is not planning to play AAU basketball this spring and summer, but is planning to attend a number of elite showcase camps this summer, including the Vince Carter, LeBron James, Global and NBA Top 100 Camps.
A soft-spoken young man, Smith said he wants to work on his ballhandling and add range on his jump shot to prepare himself for his senior year of high school and beyond.
"I'll basically just be working on defense, everything to be the best player I can," Smith said.
As Smith narrows his list of colleges, he is looking for several items from his eventual choice.
"The [college] coach is important. The style of play that the team uses and the players they have," Smith said. "The campus, the school itself and the educational part [are also important]."
"That part, where the school is in terms of home, I'm not sure," Smith added. "It would be good for my family and friends to be able to watch me play in college, but I'm not sure if I'll go away or stay close by."
