Lincoln handles Duncanville, 67-55
Junior swingman Lebryan Nash had 26 points and eight rebounds to lead Lincoln (Dallas, Texas) to a 67-55 win over Duncanville (Duncanville, Texas) in an ESPNU-televised game Dec. 11.
Lincoln led by as much as 15 in the second half, but Duncanville pulled to within 41-35 after three quarters. Nash, the No. 10 prospect in the ESPNU Super 60, scored 10 in the fourth to help seal the win.
Duncanville big man Perry Jones, No. 3 in the ESPNU 100, struggled to get anything going against Lincoln's 3-2 defense. He scored just three of his 12 points in the fourth.
When the preseason ESPN RISE FAB 50 rankings were released, Lincoln came in at No. 40 and Duncanville started at No. 47. How quickly things changed. When the first regular-season FAB 50 came out, Lincoln shot up to No. 20. Duncanville fell into the abyss of the unranked.
Duncanville, which opened the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons as the nation's top-ranked team in the FAB 50, was hoping to use the Old Spice High School Showcase game to get back on track. But the 2002 FAB 50 national champs had other ideas.
Throughout the game, Lincoln's 3-2 zone had Duncanville out of rhythm, especially Jones. Lincoln started the fourth quarter on a quick 4-0 run, pushing the lead back up to double digits. Duncanville's Cameron Lindsay hit some 3s later as his team got within five with 1:33 to play, but Nash and Lincoln pulled away again.
