Kentucky coach fights new charges

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Attorneys for a former high school football coach charged with reckless homicide in the death of one of his players are trying to block prosecutors from reintroducing a wanton endangerment charge.

Judge Susan Schultz Gibson dismissed the charge last week. She sided with attorneys for David Jason Stinson, who argued the grand jury was not informed that the former coach wanted to testify.

Prosecutors plan to present the charge to the grand jury again this week and tell jurors that Stinson wants to testify. Defense attorney Brian Butler says the jury is tainted and should not rehear the case.

Stinson is charged in the death of 15-year-old Max Gilpin. Gilpin collapsed during a practice last August at Pleasure Ridge Park High and died three days later.
