East Region Player of the Week
Max DeLorenzo
Berlin (Berlin, Conn.)
A 6-0, 200-pound junior who could be one of the top running back prospects next season in New England, DeLorenzo put on a show in last Saturday's Class M state championship. He carried 44 times for 334 yards and three touchdowns, caught a scoring pass and led Berlin to a 46-6 triumph against Bethel (Bethel, Conn.). For the season, DeLorenzo, who has reportedly run 4.5 in the 40-yard dash, finished with 2,154 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Southeast Region Player of the Week
DeMarcus James
Demopolis (Demopolis, Ala.)

The game plan for the Tigers in the Class 5A state championship game was like it had been the entire postseason as they relied on the junior running back to carry the team to a 27-14 victory over Russellville (Russellville, Ala.). Averaging just over 236 yards rushing per game in the previous four playoff contests, James almost reached that total in the first half against the Golden Tigers as he rushed 24 times for a 5A record 208 yards in a half while scoring a touchdown. James set a Super Six record for carries with 42 en route to 293 yards. James was 13 yards shy of the all-class Super Six record of 306 set in 1996. After rushing for over 1,100 yards in his freshman year and over 1,600 yards last season, James finished this season with 2,529 yards and has schools such as BCS Championship-bound Alabama interested in him coming to their school once his high school days are done.

Midwest Region Player of the Week
Jake Trubiano
Davidson (Hilliard, Ohio)

The senior quarterback led the Wildcats to their second Ohio Division 1 state title in four years by outlasting FAB 50-ranked Glenville (Cleveland, Ohio), 16-15. Trubiano rushed 18 times for 196 yards and catapulted Hilliard from behind with 1:04 left with a successful two-point conversion run as Trubiano lined up at tailback on the play. The winning score was set up by a 73-yard Trubiano run from the Davidson 23-yard-line with 3:11 left. Spencer Delande scored the final touchdown on a two-yard run before Trubiano ran for the deciding conversion.

Southwest Region Player of the Week
Jordan Taylor
Denison (Denison, Texas)

The 6-5, 195-pound quarterback who has an offer from Rice and could be hoping for more led Denison to a 49-35 victory over Sulphur Springs (Texas) in the 4A Division II, Region II championship. Sulphur Springs won the state title in that division a year and defeated Denison in the regional semifinals along the way. Taylor keyed the avenging win as he rushed for 223 yards and two touchdowns and also passed for 189 yards and two more scores. Taylor has led Denison to 12 straight wins heading into this week's next-to-last week of games in the Texas state playoffs.

West Region Player of the Week
Jake Heaps
Skyline (Sammamish, Wash.)

Make it three-for-three with Heaps as the starting quarterback for the Spartans. The 6-3, 190-pound senior headed to BYU passed for a Class 4A state title game record four touchdowns as Skyline won its third straight state title with a 45-21 victory over Ferris (Spokane, Wash.) last Saturday night at the Tacoma Dome. Heaps, a three-year standout, completed 15 of 25 passes for 254 yards in his final prep game. He ended the season with 3,190 yards passing and 45 touchdowns and also finished 40-2 as a starter.
