The NIKE Combine in Honolulu (Hawaii) was a huge success on several different levels. The talent was better than expected with a great group of kids who were hungry to compete and respectful to be around. The ESPN RISE staff gave their quick thoughts on what stood out to them as the combine season officially kicked off.

Kynon Codrington: Pearl City (Hawaii) linebacker Cyrus Coen impressed me with a 4.67 40-yard dash, 4.25-shuttle, 37 foot throw in the power ball and 30-8 vertical jump. Coen is just as impressive off the field with a 3.8 GPA. He does some cerebral sit ups to go along with his workout routine and is someone I'll be watching on the field next fall.

Eugene Jackson: What a way to start our Nike Combine tour in Hawaii. The Island staff was great, they showed great hospitality to our ESPN RISE staff. I never met a group of athletes that were so grateful and hungry to have the opportunity to compete and show their skills. What shocked me the most was to hear several athletes and parents talk about how they appreciate us coming out and to allow them to showcase their talent and not be charged to do so, when other groups have charged. Seeing the size of some of the athletes especially the younger classmen made me say 'Wow, its going to be an exciting Combine tour.'

Michael White: Obviously there is not a better way to kickoff the 2010 NIKE Football Combine tour than in Hawaii and even better was how appreciative everyone was to our staff for being here. Got to say, I was pretty amazed at the size of some of the younger players in attendance, things look pretty good with prospects coming from the islands. Leaving today's combine has me looking forward to hopefully being able to come back and see how these athletes develop over the next year.

Greg Biggins: Reeve Kohler (Honolulu, Hawaii./St. Louis) might be the most impressive looking freshman I've seen in the last five years, if not longer. At a solid 6-foot-3, 274 pounds, Kohler looks more like a college freshman and has tremendous upside. He tested well, looked good on the one on one drills and several trainers and coaches on hand raved about what a hard working kid Kohler is. Hawaii offered Kohler as an 8th grader and this is someone every college should jump on sooner rather than later.
