QB/DB/KR -- Dillon Baxter, Mission Bay (San Diego, Calif.)
Our Mr. Football USA for 2009 has enrolled early at USC and is attending classes to prepare for spring practice. Baxter wavered on his commitment to the Trojans because of the recent head coaching switch, but re-committed after speaking with new coach Lane Kiffin.

DB/LB/RB -- Matt Elam, Dwyer (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.)
Florida's Player of the Year forced the opposition to pay attention to him on both sides of the ball. Named by the Palm Beach Post as its Big Schools Defensive Player of the Year, he recorded 61 tackles to go with 1,883 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns. Elam rushed for 187 yards and four touchdowns in Dwyer's state championship win over Niceville. He is headed to Florida.

QB/LB/P Dylan Favre, St. Stanislaus (Bay St. Louis, Miss.)
The Mr. Football honoree for Mississippi and the most prolific passer in state history led the Rock-a-Chaws to a 14-1 record and their first Class 4A state title. He set career marks with 13,509 passing yards and 144 TDs on 751-of-1,237 passing. As a senior, he completed 342-of-529 passes for 5,589 yards and 63 TDs and rushed for 1,265 yards and 18 scores. He intercepted six passes and averaged 41.4 yards per punt. The nephew of Brett Favre has committed to Mississippi State.

RB/LB -- Matt Perez, Maine South (Park Ridge, Ill.)
Two straight 14-0 seasons and back-to-back Class 8A state titles were the team highlights with Perez in the driver's seat. He rushed for 2,246 yards and 34 TDs, including a 316-yard, five-TD, title-game finish. He also charted 62 tackles and 10 sacks. The Indiana recruit was the Chicago area Player of the Year and Illinois Player of the Year.

QB -- Phillip Sims, Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, Va.)
The two-time all-state choice and state Player of the Year set Virginia records for career passing yards (10,735) and TD passes (119) while his team went 48-4 with him as the starter. This season, the Alabama recruit completed 175-of-283 passes for 2,690 yards and 36 scores.

WR/DB -- Robert Woods, Serra (Gardena, Calif.)
An electrifying talent who had many in Southern California comparing him to the Philadelphia Eagles' DeSean Jackson, Woods was a Mr. Football candidate in California after dominating on both sides of the ball. He caught 66 passes for 1,112 yards and 15 TDs and, on defense, picked off eight passes and had 96 tackles. Woods is headed to USC.
