Miami All-Alarm Clock Team
Every combine has its big names, but the most fun aspect of any camp or combine is finding the players who were unknowns at the beginning of the day, but proved they belong when the 40-yard dash was timed.
NIKE Combine Links
Over the next week, ESPN RISE will have several items pertaining to the NIKE Miami Combine. For complete coverage of the event be sure to check ESPN RISE daily.
DE: Theiren Cockran, 6-5, 196, Homestead (Fla.)
Results: 4.57 40, 4.38 shuttle, 31'6" PB, 35.3" VJ, 93.09 SPARQ
Breakdown: He will certainly need to bulk up some, but Cockran was one of the most impressive prospects on the hoof Saturday and can move his feet like a 6-1 wideout, not the 6-5 DE he is.
DE: Matt Diekman, 6-2, 220, Stuart (Fla.) Martin County
Results: 4.92 40, 5.00 shuttle, 37'6" PB, 30.2" VJ, 75.06 SPARQ
Breakdown: Blue-collar end had 87 tackles and five sacks as junior to earn honorable mention all-area honors. Tested well Saturday has frame to grow into 240-250 pounder in college.
WR: Stanley Fleurent, 6-3, 173, Homestead (Fla.)
Results: 4.49 40, 4.42 shuttle, 33' PB, 39.3" VJ, 98.97 SPARQ
Breakdown: Sleeper alert! Fleurent can absolutely move for a wideout with a 6-3 frame and ran for three scores last fall. Homestead has been known to put out some talent since Bobby McCray Sr. took over and Fleurent has all the tools.
DB: Hugh Graham, 6-0, 165, Miami (Fla.) Northwestern
Results: 4.44 40, 4.31 shuttle, 36'6" PB, 38.7" VJ, 109.56 SPARQ
Breakdown: Track star has size and certainly the speed to be an impact player in the secondary. Now the questions is, how does it translate on the football field.
DL: Jean Prophete, 6-2, 259, West Palm Beach (Fla.) Summit Christian
Results: 4.87 40, 5.21 shuttle, 40' PB, 29.9" VJ, 87.90 SPARQ
Breakdown: If not for a slip in the shuttle, would've gone 100+ in SPARQ Rating; major athlete and terrific hoops player as well. Has the athletic ability that very few 260 pounders possess and could be something if he has the toughness to match.
TE: Matthew Rodriguez, 6-3, 211, West Palm Beach (Fla.) Summit Christian
Results: 4.84 40, 4.66 shuttle, 44' PB, 30.5" VJ, 93.06 SPARQ
Breakdown: Had the combine's top power ball throw and averaged over 20 yards per catch last fall. Isn't as tall as most college traditionally like in a tight end, but if he can play FB/H-back as well, he could be very intriguing.
WR: Derrick Toombs, 6-0, 174, Miramar (Fla.)
Results: 4.63 40, 4.56 shuttle, 34' PB, 32.7" VJ, 81.06 SPARQ
Breakdown: Averaged over 26 yards per catch and scored six times this fall at Western and should have greater opportunities this fall after transferring to pass-happy defending 6A state champions Miramar.
LB: Oliver Vigille, 6-1, 184, Miami (Fla.) Central
Results: 4.84 40, 4.72 shuttle, 37' PB, 32.8" VJ, 77.40 SPARQ
Breakdown: The Rockets' high-flying offense usually garners most of the attention, and for good reason, but Vigille is player on the Central defense that should draw his own fair share of notoriety this fall.
