Rachel Banham of Lakeville, Minn.
(ESPN HoopGurlz)

The Golden Gophers grabbed the top two players in the state of Minnesota and, in this class, that lands Pam Borton the No. 19 and No. 74 players in the nation. There were no additions to the class in the late signing period but the time was far from wasted as Minnesota already has its first 2012 commitment.

Rachel Banham is the No. 5 point guard in the 2011 class and the 5-foot-8 senior just exploded over the summer. She emerged as a big-time scoring option from the point and showcased the moxie to run a team against top competition. Her omission from the McDonald's All-American game shouldn't stop fans from being excited about their future point guard.

Kayla Hirt is the second prospect in the class and a teammate of Banham's in the summer with North Tartan. She is a blue-collar forward with wing skills. She doesn't shy away from contact and if the two collectively bring their chemistry to the next level it could be high times for the Gophers.
