With Duke still in the hunt for at least one uncommitted top-100 player, coach Joanne P. McCallie's haul could change considerably. But the class that the Blue Devils have now is already one of the premier groups in the country.
Duke's biggest splash came in August when Alexis Jones of Irving, Texas, committed. The five-star guard is ranked third overall in the class and is one of the most explosive scorers in the country. Her ability to create instant offense fills a direct need for Duke and continues its trend of recruiting classes at or near the top nationwide.
Duke's second piece is an ultra-smooth shooting guard, Sierra Moore. With wings Kathleen Scheer and Shay Selby set to graduate this season, the Blue Devils are counting on Moore to fill another need. Moore can get out in transtion and make plays off the dribble, something that could help the Blue Devils on the nights they struggle to score.
The third player in Duke's class is 6-foot-4 interior player Katie Heckman of Centennial, Colo. A versatile post with a developed skill set, Heckman should add depth to Duke's frontcourt. The addition of Heckman helped solidify Duke's 2012 class as one of the best in the country.
