Je Zhe Newton of Chandler, Ariz.
During the winter, Georgia Tech was busy working to sign one of the top remaining unsigned prospects in No. 67 Je Zhe Newton of Chandler, Ariz. Right after Newton decided to head east and play her college basketball in Atlanta, Tech picked up another addition to its 2012 class when Roddreka Rodgers of Durham, N.C., decided to sign with the ACC school. Newton and Rodgers were then later joined by Nariah Taylor of Indianapolis, Ind., who became Tech's third late-period addition after being released from Auburn after a coaching change.
Tech already had a strong class with 6-foot wing/guard Breanna McDonald of Lithonia, Ga., the No. 42 prospect in the class who committed in October, and No. 24 Aaliyah Whiteside of Memphis, Tenn.
Coach MaChelle Joseph also reached down into the Sunshine State to pick up No. 56 Brittany Jackson of Sebastian, Fla., who is a strong kid with a knack for scoring. Jackson is the kind of guard that will fit perfectly in Tech's system as she can play both guard spots effectively. Also in the backcourt is Kymberly Ellison of Columbus, Ga., a three-star prospect and a pass-first point guard.
In the fall Georgia Tech had one of the best classes in the country and was shaping up to focus on adding size in the class of 2013. With the additions of the three post players who were added in the late signing period, Tech has put together a seven-player recruiting class that is as deep as and well-rounded as any group in the country.
