ESPN Player Evaluations

Nike Nationals-July 11: Impressive, hard working guard. Nice size and length make her a challenging match up for some as do her individual ball skills. Shot the ball well both in the 15 foot range and out beyond the arch. Got out in transition and looked to attack off the early entry pass. offered up a few sharp passes and did a good job with misdirection in setting them up. Works hard defensively but took a few risks at times that didn't go her way. Lots of tools and potential. Defining year in front of her. (Lewis)

SoCal Sectionals '11: Funny thing, even if USC coach Michael Cooper had not been in the audience, it still would have been tempting to compare this lefty, 5-11 guard to the old Laker great -- only blonde, without the grainy highlight reel and, of course, no Coop-a-Loops. Where McGuire does compare is with her length, explosiveness, competitive fire and versatility. Not to mention a slight high dribble and area-code shooting ability. Just a sophomore, she is not quite as elastic and smooth as her senior, Gonzaga-bound teammate, Keani Albanez, but we can see her getting there in a couple years. As a big-shot artist, she almost stole the show, hitting consecutive threes with about two minutes left, but then Janae Sharpe did her thing and erased it. Still, she has an impressive amount of chutzpah, asking for the ball when the game is on the line, even with a polished shooter on her own team. It's easy to imagine McGuire as a defensive stopper on this and the next level. She definitely has the quickness to defend guards out on the perimeter, and adds length, explosiveness and a great desire to compete. (Nelson)

Nike Nationals-July 10: Nice spot up 3-point shot (Bodine)

Nike Skills-May 10: This guard plays with good instincts and has obviously had some good coaching so far. She has some good size at the guard spot, moves well and can handle the ball. She'll be worth keeping an eye on and seeing her progress over the next couple of years.

Nike TOC-Dec. 09: Young with some size and skills. Left-hander with some potential worth watching.
