Nor Cal Fall-Oct. 10: Can play close to the basket but needs to improve footwork and balance. (Bodine)

Nike Northwest Invitational: You know things are good when you can bring a Division I caliber post off your bench, and that's exactly what Archbishop Mitty head coach Sue Phillips has with Leo. She could definitely have played more assertive and imposed her will on the game against Potter's House, yet she still showcased a smooth 6-4 post prospect with good hands and basketball I.Q. She blocks and changes shots without swinging at the ball, can score with her back to the basket and pass out of the post as well.

EBX Fall Showcase - Oct. 09: On the heels of much talk about 2010 being a down class for posts comes the 2011 class, which has been far more promising. Add Vanessa Leo of San Jose, Calif., and Archbishop Mitty High School to the growing list of high-major prospects. First of all, she is an agile 6-4; secondly, she plays for coach Sue Phillips, who often seems to operate a farm for inside players in Northern California. Some will argue that Leo has the body type for the forward position -- she supplements that argument with more-than-competent play from the high post, especially. However, you do see a lot of lanky, mobile posts at the next level, though not a herd of those who, as Leo does, offer a solid fundamental base -- finishing left and right, being decisive after the catch -- at such a young age.

Music City-July 09: Tall post with ample length. She has improved a lot from last season and should draw plenty of attention in the West from both mid-major and high-major conferences. With confidence and improved footwork her fluid athleticism is showing.

Summer 2008: Legit 6-4 with some tools, plenty of length. Needs to perfect footwork as she's not going to beat anyone at the college level with quickness.
