Kennedy Classic-Jan. 09:
We sometimes think we like Jeniece Johnson better than her team at H.D. Woodson does. She is, after all, a very imposing 6 feet 6, who we've seen drop step big girls across the country into submission. Johnson, who is headed next year to North Carolina State, also shows bursts of speed and nimbleness that are utterly unexpected of a player her size. At the next level, she almost certainly will develop the stamina to go a little longer and harder during games. Johnson also almost certainly will earn more notice in her own offense. Woodson's guards tend to dominate the offense at this level, launching too quickly with an easier path to scores available through their seemingly unstoppable post.
Summer 08:There were a couple of times 6-4 Jeniece Johnson showed a rare combination of quickness and strength and there were others when she seemed vulnerable to fast hands and double-teams. But her size, strength and willingness to initiate contact mark her as a BCS-level post player.
Good touch on finishes which, when combined with her size, means she will be doubled most of her career. Reading and passing out of double teams will be vital to her development.
